Keeping Little Smiles Healthy

Preventive Dentistry

Preventive care is essential for kids of all ages. Your child’s oral health will be influenced by the care they receive when they are very young, so it’s important to come see Dr. Nasem at Treehouse Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics every six months for preventive care. If your little one is due for a check-up, schedule an appointment today!

Avoiding Dental Issues

The Importance of Preventive Care

Preventive care is important because it helps encourage proper overall oral health and dental hygiene habits. By seeing a dentist from an early age, your child will develop an understanding of how to care for their teeth. Habits formed early on will stick with them for the rest of their lives.

By coming in for regular visits, you’ll establish a “dental home” for your family at Treehouse Pediatric Dentistry & Orthodontics and your kids will form a trusting relationship with Dr. Nasem. This helps reduce the chances that your child will develop dental anxiety in the future and will get them use to the process of seeing a dentist. Overall, routine preventive visits help ensure that your child will have a positive, receptive attitude toward dentistry.

Fluoride Treatments

Preventing Tooth Decay

Fluoride treatments are useful for preventing decay in all children. Everyday eating and drinking, no matter how healthy, wears away tooth structure and weakens teeth. Topical fluoride helps to rebuild what normal eating and drinking tear down. Fluoride treatments are fast, simple, and highly effective for kids.

Long-Lasting Cavity Prevention

Dental Sealants

New adult molars erupt with very deep grooves and pits. In order to protect these teeth, Dr. Nasem recommends dental sealants. A dental sealant is a white plastic coating that is painted into the grooves and pits, helping to prevent bacteria, acid and food debris to build up and eventually cause a cavity. With proper placement, dental sealants can last 10 years or longer.

Treat Tongue Ties

Frenectomies

Tongue ties and lip ties can interfere with proper feeding, speech, and oral development. These issues (known as tethered oral tissues) affect your child and can also affect the emotional well-being of nursing mothers. At Treehouse Pediatric Dentistry, we offer convenient, minimally-invasive frenectomies with our state-of-art CO2 laser to eliminate tongue ties and restore the range of motion of your child’s lip and/or tongue. Our laser allows minimal operative and post operative pain, minimal bleeding and no stitches.
