Special Needs Dentistry is a term that refers to the treatment of any patient who may have special requirements for their dental care due to physical or mental health conditions. For example, a child with extreme dental anxiety may need specialized care, such as sedation, comforting toys, and other accommodations. A child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may be sensitive to light or noise and will benefit from earplugs or dark glasses to help them enjoy a relaxing, stress-free visit.

Dr. Nasem trained at Children’s Hospital Orange County (CHOC) during her pediatric residency and focused specifically on treating special needs children. She has continued to hold her credentialing at CHOC for over 10 years.
